The Wildcard - Submission #29
In 1850 Eastern False Creek was an inland tidal flat surrounded by pristine old growth forest. For thousands of years the local First Nations were the ultimate “sustainable” humans – in balance with nature.
Today almost a million people live in Vancouver. Considering the area once supported a few thousand humans and contained a great many more natural ecosystems it is very important that we seriously discuss sustainable solutions for humanity on the planet.
The proposed School for Sustainability would be a place that could return some of the natural ecosystems in the city. It would be a learning place back in nature. A peaceful destination which would discuss what Vancouver used to be and what it should become in the 21st century.
